Beginner tips for Forever Ago
Forever Ago is a short narrative game. You cannot lose a fight, because there is no fight. The things that actually block people are the camera rules and a prompt that only appears when you stand in the right spot.

Camera, prompts and saving
- This is a narrative adventure, not a combat or build-planning game.
- GamingTrend reports checkpoint autosaves, no manual saving and chapter select after the credits. New Game overwrites the current save.
- Play Save Repeat reports up to 12 photos per level and four selected for the journal. Do not equate four album frames with a four-photo achievement limit.
- Adjust camera framing and crouch for low subjects. Use the timer when the shot needs Alfred in it.
- Forever Ago Guide describes shaking a print to develop it.
- If an interaction does not register, approach slowly, face the object and adjust position. Both hands-on reviews report awkward prompt alignment.
What to do in every chapter
Three jobs repeat: explore, photograph, talk. The journal is both the task list and the album. Audrey wrote the lists. Alfred adds tickets and stickers.
Steam’s Old Bones condition asks for every rest opportunity. Forever Ago Wiki reports that chapter replay does not combine missed rests into the unlock. Plan rests within one playthrough, but distinguish that player report from the shorter official condition.
Before you quit
- Check the journal and finish nearby interactions before leaving the area.
- Watch for the game’s save indication. A completed journal objective alone is not proof that progress was saved: Play Save Repeat lost progress this way.
- Keep a personal checklist of optional interactions and rest prompts. This guide does not provide a verified all-seat route.
Questions
Are photographs graded?
Steam lists count-based goals at 25 and 50 photos. Those conditions do not specify a photo-quality score. Selfies still use a countdown, and the resort contains an arcade game.
Can I return to an earlier chapter?
After completing the story, according to GamingTrend. Treat Old Bones separately: community reports say missed rests cannot be patched together through chapter select.
